When I first planned my trip to Canada, sorting out the eTA was surprisingly simple. I did it online from home the week before my flight. You just go to the official Canadian government website, fill in a form with your passport details, travel plans, and some background questions. I had my passport, flight info, and a couple of extra minutes to upload a photo ready. Payment was by credit card. The whole thing took less than 15 minutes. After submitting, I got an email confirmation within an hour. They even gave me a reference number to keep handy in case I needed to check the status later. The approval lasts for five years, so I didn’t worry about it for subsequent trips. Just be sure you use the official government site, there are scams out there charging extra fees. Once it’s approved, the eTA links to your passport electronically, so you don’t need to print anything out. Just bring the passport you used for the application to the airport.

I grabbed my eTA online before flying to Canada, easy form on the official site, just passport, job info, and travel dates. Paid with a credit card, got approval email in minutes. Print confirmation and keep it with your passport; airlines usually check before boarding.
